About Tony Daltoso

I grew up in the Wine and Onions of the Walla Walla Valley in Eastern Washington. After receiving my Masters in Counseling Psychology from Walla Walla University, I moved to Missouri where I became a Licensed Professional Counselor.  After 5 years of working as a therapist in Missouri I decided to return to my roots and headed back to my hometown of Walla Walla; I became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Washington. Since 2017, I have  lived in Vancouver Washington and worked as a counselor in both private practice and community mental health.

I am a big fan of “ball sports”, but not “stick sports.” I like to laugh and have done really really awful amateur stand up comedy. I grew up a Husky fan, but I’m now a loyal Coug, since I received my Bachelors from Washington State University in Pullman, Wa. My wife and I have a son named after the legendary Trojan prince, whose descendants founded Rome, and another son named after the river that flows through the eternal city. A city I have promised to visit with my family before I become old and grey; this would have been done in 2020 too, if not for the Corona Virus.

Q&A With Tony Daltoso

I’m more of a deeper issue therapist, but getting some initial relief is usually required before you can do deeper work.

Generally, I tend to let the client lead, until I have something I think is relevant or necessary and then I will ask to jump in, take over and direct for a while. Obviously it often depends on the issue and the client’s personality.

Like most therapists I am good at listening and comprehending my clients experience. I think I am at my best when I go into professor mode and apply psychological concepts explicitly to my clients life, but my clients mostly say they most appreciate how comfortable they feel saying whatever they have to say with me in session.

I have always wanted to fly. I always asked to be able to fly when I said my prayers before bed as a kid. Then I played basketball in high school but could never quite really dunk so I have always wanted to fly in the Michael Jordan way too.

The last think I saw that I could not stop laughing at was Jeff Ross Historical Roasts on Netflix: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sQJZWgirUpE

Alfonso Ribeiro, Jaleel White, Empress Theodora, and my wife.
