Ever since I was a child, I’ve always known I wanted to help others. I truly believe that people have the ability to make positive changes in their life, and I enjoy being able to be a part of that process. My job as your therapist is to help you gain insight and make positive changes in your life. I approach therapy in a non-judgmental way, with open communication, insight and humor. I believe that one of the most important parts of therapy is the therapeutic relationship, so I do my best to create a safe, welcoming space for you. I feel that therapy should be both helpful and enjoyable.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Washington. I received my Masters degree in Marriage, Couples and Family therapy from Lewis and Clark Graduate School, in 2012. I also have a Bachelors of Science from The University of Toledo.
When I’m not seeing clients I enjoy spending time in nature, playing games with my family, listening to music, being crafty, and exploring new places.
I tend to do a combo of both. I think it’s important to know what was the catalyst that brought the client in. However I find that most of the issues we have an immediate concern about are couched in deeper issues.
I like to let the client determine which is more comfortable for them. I will often let them lead, and interject questions. In some cases, I find it important to lead the conversation, especially in family or couples sessions.
I am compassionate, empathetic and understanding. I feel that I’m down to earth, and welcoming. I’ve been told that I’m able to make other’s feel comfortable and understood. I believe that it is important to have a good therapeutic relationship. I utilize humor in therapy, I believe that therapy should be both productive and enjoyable.
The ability to transport myself to anywhere. I love to travel, and visit with family and friends. I would love the ability to just make myself appear where ever I wanted, whenever I wanted.
People being silly. I love watching video’s of funny things, or events. Recently I’ve been watching a lot of “carpool Karaoke” with James Cordon. I love when people are just being themselves doing silly things, and truly enjoying life. It makes me laugh and feel joyful with them!
I would love to have dinner with Anne Frank. When I was a child I read her diary 10+ times. I think she led such an interesting life, and was mature beyond her years. I would love to be able to sit down with her and talk about her experiences, and how she was able to deal with so much fear and stress in such a graceful and mature way.
